Universal Reconstitution
The complete laboratory protocol for reconstituting lyophilized peptides, including standard math and syringe conversions.
The Fundamentals
Every research peptide arrives as a stable, dry powder. Before it can be utilized in any protocol, it must be dissolved into a liquid state. The process of adding a diluent to a lyophilized powder is called reconstitution.

Step-by-Step Protocol
Sterility and gentle handling are paramount. Follow these exact steps to ensure you do not damage the molecular structure of the peptide.
Prep & Sanitize ๐งผ
Wash hands thoroughly. Pop the plastic caps off both the Peptide vial and the BAC water vial. Swab both rubber stoppers vigorously with an alcohol prep pad and let them air dry completely.
Draw BAC Water ๐
Using a sterile mixing syringe (often larger than an insulin syringe, e.g., a 3mL luer-lock), draw the mathematically required amount of Bacteriostatic Water. Ensure there are no large air bubbles in the syringe.
Inject Slowly ๐ง
Pierce the peptide vial. Do not spray the water directly onto the powder. Angle the needle so the water drips slowly down the glass wall of the vial. Direct pressure can destroy fragile peptide bonds.
Swirl to Dissolve ๐
NEVER SHAKE. Shaking will fracture the peptide chains. Instead, gently roll the vial between your palms or swirl it slowly in circles until the solution is completely clear.
Peptide Math & Conversions
The Golden Formula
Peptide math confuses many researchers, but it is simple division: (Total Milligrams in Vial × 1000) ÷ Milliliters of BAC added = Micrograms (mcg) per 1.0mL. Divide that number by 100 to find out exactly how much peptide is in every 1 unit on your insulin syringe.
Standard insulin syringes are measured in Units (U-100). Therefore, 10 Units = 0.1mL. Below are the most common reconstitution ratios.
| Peptide Vial Size | BAC Water Added | Concentration Yield | Dose per 10 Units (0.1mL) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5mg | 2.0 mL | 2.5 mg per mL | 250 mcg |
| 10mg | 2.0 mL | 5.0 mg per mL | 500 mcg |
| 10mg | 1.0 mL | 10.0 mg per mL | 1,000 mcg (1mg) |
| 30mg | 3.0 mL | 10.0 mg per mL | 1,000 mcg (1mg) |
Storage & Handling
Temperature
Prior to mixing, lyophilized powder can remain at room temperature. Once reconstituted with BAC, it must be refrigerated (36ยฐF to 46ยฐF).
Light Exposure
Peptides degrade quickly when exposed to UV light. Store your reconstituted vials in a dark container or the back of the refrigerator.
Shelf Life
The benzyl alcohol in BAC water preserves sterility for roughly 28 days after mixing. Vials older than a month should be safely discarded.
